Elk Grove, Sacramento County
Elk Grove sits about 15 miles south of downtown Sacramento along Highway 99 and Interstate 5. It takes its name from the Elk Grove House, a stage stop opened in 1850 on the road to the gold country. The old town center along Elk Grove Boulevard still has buildings from its railroad years.
